To assemble a new Afghan cauldron, follow the provided instructions carefully. Begin by screwing on the handle and attaching the steam release valves to the outlet pipes, ensuring they can rotate freely and move up and down. It's crucial to check that the steam holes are clear; clean them if necessary. If steam cannot escape freely, high pressure may cause the lid to blow off during cooking. The safety valve is built into the lid and should not be altered. Additionally, we recommend replacing the factory rubber gasket under the lid with the included silicone one for better performance. Let's get started with preparation. First, wash the cauldron and lid with detergent and a sponge inside and out. After that, fill it with water to two-thirds of its volume and put it on the fire. After the valves start releasing steam, boil it on low heat , heat for another 20minutes .
Remove the Afghan cauldron from the fire or turn off the stove and wait for the water in it to cool down. At this time, steam comes out of the valves until the boiling inside stops completely. You can speed up the process of releasing steam by carefully lifting one of the valves, it is better to do this with a fork or knife so as not to burn your hands. Wait until the steam stops coming out of the valves, unscrew the screw and the lid will easily rise on its own. Do not try to open the lid before the internal pressure holds it.
The manufacturer recommends heating the Afghan cauldron with oil. To do this, pour in 100 grams of any vegetable oil, add one or a couple of chopped onions. Boil for 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat and roll the cauldron on the table so that the oiled onion touches the entire inner surface. After the steam has escaped, open the lid and throw out the onion. Wipe the inner surface with a dry napkin to remove excess oil. The cauldron is ready for use!
